A Signature Reed in the Légère History
Since 1998, Légère has been developing synthetic reeds based on an acoustic engineering approach: the collaboration between Guy Légère (chemist and clarinetist) and Mark Kortschot (composite materials specialist). The Signature series aims for a fine balance between tonal color, control, and playing comfort, to closely mimic the feel of a cane reed while gaining consistency.
For Whom and in Which Styles?
This Légère Signature reed for bass clarinet is intended for intermediate to advanced musicians who already have control over their air column and want an easy-to-play reed without it being an entry-level model. It suits both classical (intonation, homogeneity) and jazz, pop, or ensemble playing, thanks to its stability and consistent response.
Sound and Design
Made from non-toxic polypropylene, the reed is manufactured using a molecular alignment process designed to precisely adjust stiffness and density. The result: easy response, controlled projection, and a round timbre, with great consistency from session to session, without swelling or softening due to humidity.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To preserve response and longevity, use a ventilated storage box and a disinfection product suitable for wind instrument accessories (free from harsh solvents).
