This collection brings together 36 original themes and pieces intended for the practice of jazz in trio, with a classic formation of piano, bass, and drums. Divided into 3 volumes, it guides the student step by step in discovering jazz piano : phrasing, sense of time, articulation, and coordination with a rhythm section. The progression is designed to remain musical and motivating, while gradually introducing challenges suited for practice starting from the second year.
The included CD is a true playing partner for rehearsal-like practice. For each piece, you will find two complementary approaches: first, a track that plays the full version followed by the play-back version (without piano), ideal for internalizing the spirit of the piece before taking the pianist's role. Then, a second track starts with a 2-bar count-in and offers the play-back version alone, perfect for working on entries, rhythmic consistency, and listening to the bass and drums. To go further, the collection is also available in interactive CD-ROMs allowing recording, muting a part (piano, bass, or drums, even hands separately), slowing down the tempo, and practicing certain passages in loop.
