Summary of This Score

This suite of six piano pieces tells the musical story of Wei Wei, a 10-year-old Chinese boy who accompanies his father to Paris for a few months. Throughout the pages, the student follows his discoveries and encounters like in a little story illustrated by sound: a motivating way to approach reading, phrasing, and dynamics by linking each passage to a specific intention.

Wei Wei strolls through Paris like a little curious child, and each title serves as a starting point for interpretation. You will find the following six scenes, to be played in order to maintain the story's progression, or separately according to your wishes:

3 - Mona Lisa's Smile
4 - Vespers of August 14th at Notre-Dame de Paris
Wei Wei is invited to his friend Linda's birthday, the little neighbor.
5 - Looky is a very mischievous little dog:
- Looky approaches the cake with small steps
- Linda kindly explains to Looky that he must wait for the guests to eat the cake
- But Looky, the rascal, greedily bites into the cake and runs away.
The children are happy; they all dance joyfully together
6 - Dance of the Angels of Peace

Thanks to this setting, the performer can work on the sound color and character of each piece: a light stroll, wonder before a monument, the delicacy of a smile, contemplation at Notre-Dame, then a lively scene around Looky before a luminous final dance. An ideal collection to develop musicality, storytelling, and ease in piano interpretation.
