Summary of This Method
This method offers an original introduction to practicing the transverse flute without going through traditional music reading. The goal is to make playing accessible from the first lessons, thanks to a simple visual system: each point corresponds to a sound, and the student just has to follow the indicated musical "trajectory."
The approach is designed to get straight to the essentials: the student is given a base note, then a rhythm and a chosen interval. They then follow the sequence of points, which naturally develops listening skills, breath-fingering coordination, and phrasing sensation, while avoiding the blockage that reading standard notation can create for some beginners.
The book is structured in two main parts. The first relies on cards with 2 sounds, ideal for establishing reference points (stability of tone production, intonation, transitioning from one note to another). The second progresses the playing with cards featuring 3 sounds, to enrich sequences and gradually expand the melodic palette.
Each part ends with a study designed as an exploration ground: the student chooses their own key, interval, and rhythms. This is an effective way to encourage autonomy, creativity, and confidence, while consolidating technical skills. Accompaniment intended for teachers is also provided to play in duo, establish a solid pulse, and transform the exercise into genuine ensemble music.
To extend practice at home and secure reference points, audio resources are available as a downloadable file, useful for training, setting the rhythm, and listening to the expected musical outcome.

Questions frequently asked
Can the transverse flute be started without reading music with this method?
The method uses a visual system where each dot corresponds to a sound. A basic note, a rhythm, and an interval allow following a musical path without traditional staff notation reading.
How do the 2- and 3-sound cards work?
The 2-sound cards establish playing landmarks, then the 3-sound cards gradually expand melodic sequences.
Are the Point'sons Lemoine suitable for beginner progress?
The book is organized in two main parts. The first works on tone stability, intonation, and sliding between two notes. The second introduces three sounds to develop the melodic palette.
Is a teacher accompaniment provided?
Accompaniment intended for teachers is provided to play in duo. It helps establish a pulse and put exercises into an ensemble context.
Are audio files included with this transverse flute method?
Audio resources are offered as a downloadable folder. They serve to practice rhythm and listen to the exercise playback.
