Summary of This Score

"Concerto métis" is Roland Dyens' first concerto, a work long matured and revised, becoming one of the most personal in his catalog. Premiered in Cannes in April 1990 with the Orchestre Régional P.A.C.A., this concerto initially lived on stage through the composer's own performances, invited for several years by orchestras in numerous countries. The recording made in Armenia in April 1997, followed by the availability of a piano reduction, were decisive steps in allowing the work to establish itself durably in the repertoire, especially for soloists and conservatories.

Classical in its construction (fast-slow-fast, with cadenza), the work stands out through the richness of the influences that permeate it: a "mixing" of styles and colors that gives the discourse an immediately recognizable identity. This guitar and piano reduction score offers concrete access to the concerto's musical material, useful for preparing the interpretation, working on soloist-accompaniment balance, clarifying articulations, and deepening phrasing. A relevant choice for classical guitarists seeking an ambitious, expressive, and structured concertante piece, at the crossroads of tradition and Dyens' own invention.
