Commissioned by the German-Canadian duo Amadeus Guitar Duo, Concertomaggiopresents itself as an expressive journey where homage becomes living material. The work unfolds a triple salute to three very contrasting but complementary universes: the orchestral and harmonic refinement evoked by Ravel, the polyphonic clarity and classical guitar tradition inherited from Fernando Sor, and the rhythmic energy, expressive tension, and popular accents associated with Astor Piazzolla.
While the "readability" of the references remains intentionally perceptible in each movement, the second movement stands out for its artful weaving. While quoting one of the most famous studies by Fernando Sor, the musical line is enriched by counterpoint fragments of the German and Canadian anthems, a double nod directly linked to the dedicatees.
