Designed to support the 3rd year of Music Theory, this manual offers a clear progression around fundamental concepts addressed chapter by chapter. The organization over several weeks per theme allows the teacher to establish habits regularly, while giving the necessary time for understanding and assimilation. The intentionally increasing progression helps students overcome each stage without skipping the basics, which is particularly useful in a group class setting.
One of the strengths of this method lies in its very concrete conception of Music Theory: the voice and instrument become true working tools on the same level as reading and writing. Each exercise is designed to be first sung then played : melodic or rhythmic memorization, rhythmic readings with or without note names, sung readings. Only note readings are intended to be spoken, in order to quickly establish pitch and naming references. This alternation develops the inner ear, strengthens intonation, stabilizes pulse sense, and improves rhythmic accuracy.
By linking theory to instrumental practice, the student progresses through the "realization" of their knowledge: what they read, they hear, then perform on their instrument. This bridge between solfège, listening, and playing encourages continuous and motivating progress, as the student immediately perceives the musical usefulness of the concepts worked on. Depending on the instrument played, some adjustments may be necessary, but the spirit remains the same: to make Music Theory a living learning experience, directly connected to the music performed.
