Summary of This Book
This volume gathers carefully selected melodies and lieder to support students at the end of the 1st cycle (generally 3rd or 4th year of musical studies). A chronological organization has been favored to develop solid reference points: throughout the pieces, the student discovers varied styles and learns to recognize the writing characteristics specific to each era and composer. Teachers can thus select pieces based on level, progression, and objectives (sight-reading, ear training, culture, text work).
To strengthen the essential link between text and music, it is recommended to first approach the reading (with note names), then sing with the lyrics. Thanks to the piano accompaniment, the student can also work actively: error spotting, vertical and horizontal reading, recognition of intervals and chords, rhythmic reading, as well as dictation exercises. Contents: BEETHOVEN: Feuerfarb; BERLIOZ: La damnation de Faust (Le Roi de Thulé); BIZET: Pastel; BORODIN: Chez les autres; CHABRIER: Villanelle de petits canards; EXAUDET: Menuet; GOUNOD: Le médecin malgré lui (air de la bouteille); GRANADOS: Amor y Odio; GRIEG: Erstes Begegnen; HAENDEL: Alcina; KOECHLIN: Duo a capella; MASSENET: Manon (1st act, 3 voices); MAXWELL-DAVIES: At the shore; MOUSSORGSKY: Sans soleil; RAMEAU: Dardanus (act II, scene 2); SCHUBERT: Der Schatzgrüber; NEGRO SPIRITUAL: I got a home in-a-dat Rock.
