Summary of this score
" 3 Contemporary Pieces
Harpsichord and Percussion " presents a musical journey that fully embraces the sonic imagination of our time, while highlighting the harpsichord's historical richness. The intention is clear: to offer young musicians a stimulating field of exploration, capable of dispelling preconceptions and opening up new interpretive territories, between acoustic colours and more " digital " resonances in spirit.
The volume brings together three complementary works, each highlighting a different relationship between attacks, resonances and textures. Aki Nakamura has written FĂčrin (wind chime) for harpsichord, glockenspiel and cymbal, where the clarity of the harpsichord blends with metallic sparkles to create a palette of airy, finely sculpted sounds. Mirtru Escalona-Mijares offers Varnam for four-hands harpsichord and two percussionists: a rich format for developing coordination, the layering of sonic planes and the collective breathing of an ensemble. Finally, Renaud Desbazeille composed A' Meya Bal' Endoro for harpsichord and marimba, with each of the two instruments spanning 5 octaves, paving the way for a broad and virtuosic dialogue between the depth of wood and the precision of the keyboard.
Both a contemporary score and a chamber music resource, this collection is intended for performers seeking new repertoire for concerts, auditions or conservatory projects, with an emphasis on listening, the subtlety of timbres and the rhythmic energy specific to the harpsichord-percussion duo.
