Summary of This Score "For ever Fortune"

This score gathers a program devoted to the songs and dances of 18th-century Scotland, compiled from manuscript and printed sources identified in Edinburgh and London throughout the 18th century, up to the early years of the 19th century. The aim is twofold: to offer material faithful to the sources and to provide an edition immediately usable by today's musician, whether in lessons, early music workshops, or personal practice.

The writing of these pieces highlights lyrical melodies and accompaniments designed to be flexible. This approach makes the collection particularly practical: the musical lines transpose easily from one instrument to another, and the presence of a voice (tenor or soprano) allows for working both ornamentation and the articulation of text and phrasing. Flute, violin, cello, keyboard, or other instruments can adopt this repertoire, whether solo or in small ensemble.

The edition also stands out for its graphic approach. A specific musical typography was created by Pierre Séchet to recapture the visual elegance of 18th-century printings. The chosen typeface, "Rameau," designed by Sarah Lazarevic based on an engraved edition of a lyrical work by J.P. Rameau, enhances this immersion and offers a clear, pleasant, and particularly refined reading experience.

The arrangements and variations proposed by François Lazarevitch provide a structured and pedagogical musical framework: an excellent support to explore style, enrich interpretation, and build a program around the early Scottish repertoire, with a performance equally convincing in concert and learning situations.
