A Dedicated Expression Pedal to Get the Most Out of Line 6 Stomp Box Modelers and AX2

The EX-1 was conceived as the natural extension of Line 6 systems that accept an expression pedal. The idea is simple: rather than limiting yourself to a fixed setting, you can bring your sound to life in real time. On the Stomp Box Modelers, it allows you to "morph" smoothly between two states of the same model, shifting from a subtle tone to a more pronounced texture with an ultra-intuitive foot movement.

Paired with the AX2, the EX-1 becomes a full-fledged playing tool: one movement and you get an expressive wah, or a progressive and musical volume control. The result: a single pedal to enrich your phrasing, control your dynamics, and make your effects much more organic.

Who and In What Contexts Does the Line 6 EX-1 Make a Difference?

The Line 6 EX-1 is aimed at guitarists (and more broadly musicians) who want to keep their hands on the instrument while adjusting an essential parameter with their foot. If you're a beginner, it's an excellent way to learn how to dose an effect in real situations, without getting lost in complex settings: you play, you listen, you adjust.

In live performance, it helps make a pedalboard more fluid: volume swells on a solo, wah synced to the groove, gradual transition between two textures... In the studio, it is used to record natural and expressive variations, perfect for dynamic parts (rock, funk, pop, ambient), but also for more modern approaches where sound evolution is part of the performance.

Features, Control, and Connectivity: The "Plug and Play" Approach

The EX-1 is based on a clear philosophy: no menus, no knobs to adjust, just continuous foot control. It sends an expression variation usable by the compatible device, whether to blend two settings (morphing), control volume, or trigger a wah according to your gear's configuration.

Regarding integration, it uses a 6.35mm Jack connection and comes with a 6.35mm Jack connection cable to start immediately. Need a longer cable on stage or in a rack? You can use another 6.35mm Jack cable suited to your setup, which facilitates larger configurations.

Sound

An expression pedal does not "color" your sound by itself: its mission is to turn your playing into control. Where the EX-1 stands out is in the transition feel: a gradual sweep lets you achieve natural, more musical changes than a simple on/off switch. With a wah, you gain articulation and phrasing; with volume, you can work on fade-ins, dynamic swells, or subtle variations that keep your interpretation alive.

On the Stomp Box Modelers, morphing offers a very "performative" way to use effects: you move from one texture to another as if controlling a studio parameter live, while staying focused on tempo, attack, and placement.
