A "ready-to-play" D.I. in the Align Series spirit

Designed with LR Baggs' DNA, the Align Series Active D.I. brings a "studio-quality for the stage" approach into an easy-to-integrate pedal format for any setup. The idea is simple: to offer a reliable interface between your instrument (often acoustic, but not exclusively) and the sound system, while respecting the attack, dynamics, and personality of your playing. Whether on a pedalboard or used alone, it aims for faithful reproduction and immediate usability, hassle-free.

Who is it for, and in what contexts?

This D.I. is intended for musicians who want a clean and controlled signal live: acoustic guitarists, multi-instrumentalists, and more broadly anyone regularly connecting via XLR to a console. It is also very relevant at home or in the studio to get a clean input into an interface, secure a signal level, and maintain a consistent chain from one gig to another. Its mute footswitch makes it particularly comfortable on stage, for example to tune silently or switch instruments without extra handling.

Key features and controls

The Active D.I. emphasizes practicality: an XLR output to feed a console (or a stage snake), and a 6.35mm Jack output to power an amp, a monitor, or another link in your chain. A Pad control allows you to boost or attenuate the level on the XLR output to adapt the D.I. to different instruments and situations (already active preamps, microphones, varying levels depending on the source). The Ground Lift eliminates noise caused by ground loops, while the phase inversion helps regain better presence and better control feedback and resonances, especially with amplified acoustic instruments. Finally, the Thru/Out selector adds extra flexibility to route the signal according to your setup, and the mute footswitch allows instant signal cut-off without bending down to the pedalboard.

Sound quality

A good D.I. goes unnoticed, and that is precisely the goal here: to maintain a natural playing feel, precise dynamic response, and clear reproduction of transients (pick attack, finger nuances, light slap on an acoustic, etc.). The Active D.I. is designed to deliver a stable and usable signal, with a reproduction that aims for fidelity rather than coloration. The phase and ground lift functions do not "change" your sound for fun: they primarily serve to quickly achieve a cleaner, more coherent mix, and easier control when the stage, sound system, or room acoustics become demanding.
