An LR Baggs Solution Born from Decades of Research
After years of development dedicated to acoustic amplification, LR Baggs designed the ANTHEM-SL to meet a simple expectation from guitarists: to regain the essence of the acoustic sound once plugged in. The approach is direct and musical: an internal microphone close to the soundboard, supported by an active piezo Element to maintain body in the low end without losing the finesse of playing.
For the Acoustic Guitarist Who Wants to Play "As If Unplugged," Even Amplified
The ANTHEM-SL is aimed at stage and studio musicians seeking a discreet, effective, and faithful system: powerful strumming, nuanced fingerstyle, vocal accompaniment... the response remains natural, and the guitar retains its personality. The goal is to allow you to keep the same touch and dynamic references, whether unplugged or amplified.
"Boundary" Microphone + Element: Clarity, Solid Bass, and Simple Control
At the heart of the system, the ANTHEM-SL microphone is positioned about 3 mm above the soundboard to take advantage of the "boundary" effect, which helps reduce interference and improve signal coherence. A new type of noise-cancelling microphone helps eliminate unwanted sounds to let through the essentials: attack, dynamics, and the guitar's grain. Additionally, the active piezo Element reinforces the bass frequencies that the mic picks up less, and the centered blend offers a natural balance between definition and depth. The control box favors efficiency: an immediate volume adjustment and a fine-tuning of the mic/piezo balance to adapt your sound to the stage, playing style, and volume level.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Lr Baggs ANTHEM-sl compatible with a classical guitar?
This hybrid system is designed for both classical and folk guitars. The active Element pickup mounts under the center of the bridge, while the Anthem microphone is placed inside the guitar body.
What sound does the internal Anthem-SL microphone provide?
Positioned about 3 mm above the top, the boundary microphone captures the attack, dynamics, and character of the instrument. The active Element piezo complements the reproduction of the low frequencies.
Can the mix between the microphone and piezo be adjusted?
A knob allows adjustment of the balance between the internal microphone and the active Element piezo. The unit also includes a volume control.
Does the Anthem-SL have a built-in equalizer?
No EQ is integrated into this system. The available controls are volume and mic/piezo balance.
What power supply is required for the Anthem-SL?
Power is supplied by a 9 V battery, not included. The described version uses a knob control without a battery level indicator.
