A mouthpiece born from pedagogy and experimentation
The Lugdivine mouthpieces were developed by the CFMI (Centre de Formation de Musiciens Intervenants) of the University Charles-de-Gaulle Lille 3, within the framework of "wild instrument making" projects. Inspired by standard trumpet mouthpieces, these plastic "cups" open an accessible musical playground, designed for workshops, invention, and the discovery of wind instruments.
For whom, and in what uses?
This model is intended for beginners, teachers, facilitators, and anyone curious to explore brass instruments. Perfect for group workshops (schools, brass bands, outreach), it is also suitable for sound experiments in contemporary music, noise music, and DIY projects.
Sound and design
The cup favors a simple sound production and a feel close to the initial gestures of the trumpet (lip vibration). The sound will strongly depend on the tube used (length, diameter, material): the longer the tube, the lower the fundamental pitch, and the bell influences the projection. Made of colored ABS, the mouthpiece is lightweight, durable, and practical to distribute in educational contexts.
Recommended compatible accessories
If used in group settings, plan for one mouthpiece per participant and an appropriate cleaning protocol. Compatibility with "traditional" instruments or adapters depends on the receiver and diameters: always check the fit before use.
