An "mk2" Evolution Designed for High-Definition Monitoring

The HR824mk2 continues the legacy of reference monitors designed to provide nearfield listening that is both analytical and enjoyable, without sacrificing accuracy. This mk2 version emphasizes consistent sound dispersion and image stability, notably through the Zero Edge Baffle design and an optimized waveguide aimed at wider and more even dispersion. The goal is clear: to offer you monitoring that "holds up" in modern contexts (production, mixing, and post-production), while remaining relevant for high-definition audio and multichannel setups.

Another key aspect of this approach is controlled bass extension. Rather than relying on a front port that can cause port noise or resonances, the HR824mk2 uses a rear-mounted passive radiator. The intended result is a more intelligible low end with a sense of depth, while maintaining enough articulation to distinguish kick, bass, and sub frequencies.

Who Are the Mackie HR824mk2 Monitors For in the Studio?

These monitors are designed for producers, mixers, and sound engineers who want a reference listening experience capable of enduring long sessions without fatigue, while remaining revealing enough to correct a congested low-midrange, overly long reverb, or harsh highs. Their 2-way format with a large-diameter woofer makes them particularly interesting if you work in genres where bass matters (electronic, pop, hip-hop, modern rock), but also for video editing and mixing, where spectral balance and placement accuracy are essential.

The THX pm3 certification also highlights their suitability for surround applications: if you are building a coherent multichannel listening environment, you primarily seek stable and reproducible reproduction, with linear response and controlled dispersion so that panning and spatial perception remain reliable.
