A combo for the mobile bassist: rehearsals, studio, small and medium stages

The Markbass MB58R MINI CMD 121 PURE is aimed at demanding beginners as well as experienced musicians looking for a lightweight main amp or a second "plug and play" amp. In rehearsal, it delivers a very comfortable headroom with clear projection thanks to the 12-inch + tweeter pairing. In the studio, its definition and dynamics make it an excellent companion for recording clean, articulate sounds and working on timing.
On stage, it is particularly relevant for styles where the bass must remain present and precise (pop, funk, modern rock, gospel, fusion, electro), while keeping the possibility to "dirty" the sound via the right hand, EQ, or pedals. And if your context requires more air movement, the idea of extending to a 2x12 configuration allows for larger setups with more headroom.

Settings, voicings, and functions: efficiency above all

The control section is designed to get straight to the point: a GAIN to set the input level, a MASTER to manage the overall volume, and a 4-band EQ to quickly shape lows, low-mids, high-mids, and highs. The "OLD SCHOOL" filter calms the top end and rounds the attack to approach a more vintage character, particularly pleasant with a passive bass, flatwound strings, or pick playing.
To instantly adapt to a room (or backline), the combo includes a 3-position selector : flat (balanced), scooped-mid (mid scoop for a wide and "hi-fi" sound), and an FSW position for footswitch control (optional footswitch) oriented to "mute / scooped". There is also a bi-band limiter that helps keep the low end clean and controlled when pushing volume, as well as a line out with level control and pre/post EQ and GND switches to facilitate sound reinforcement.

The sound

This Markbass bass combo is a transistor solution oriented towards clarity, attack, and sustain. The 12-inch neodymium speaker delivers reactive lows and firm low-mids, while the hi-fi tweeter highlights harmonics, slap snap, fingerstyle definition, and pick attack. The output remains very "direct": a crisp dynamic, fast response, and an immediate sense of control, particularly appreciated for articulated lines and tight grooves.
With the "old school" filter, you can easily round the top end for a softer, rounder grain. Clean, the combo maintains good clarity (handy for 5-string basses), and when increasing gain, you can achieve slight grit and more pronounced compression without losing foundation. It is an ideal base for a modern "full range" sound, but also a very good platform for drive pedals, preamps, and modulation effects.
