A Classic Revisited: The 1960 Spirit, "Handwired" Version

The Marshall 1960AHW follows in the footsteps of the 1960 cabinets, which have become an absolute reference for those seeking the breath and projection of a 4x12" from the '60s. This "A" version (slant) emphasizes sound dispersion towards the guitarist's ears and room openness, an asset both in rehearsal and on stage.

Designed and developed in the UK, then manufactured in the UK, it was created to naturally complement the brand's handwired heads, notably the 1959HW. And if you want to build your own stack, this cabinet is also available in a straight base for a traditional Marshall setup.

For Which Guitarist and Contexts?

This cabinet is aimed at guitarists who want to recapture an authentic "amp room" feel: displaced air, a crisp attack, and presence that only large formats can offer. It is particularly suited for intermediate to advanced players accustomed to managing volume, stage placement, and right/left hand dynamics.

In the studio, it delivers an immediately recognizable rock signature, ideal for mic'd recordings. In rehearsal and live settings, its 4x12" format provides solid projection and firm low end, highly appreciated in classic rock, vintage hard rock, blues rock, punk, and all styles where the riff must "hold" the mix.

Design, Connectivity, and "Plug and Play" Philosophy

The Marshall 1960AHW goes straight to the point: a 4x12" speaker cabinet designed to deliver the classic Marshall sound with a performance-oriented build. Its handwiring ensures optimal signal integrity and a more immediate response, especially rewarding with a dynamic tube head.

The cabinet features a single input (1) and operates in mono with an impedance of 15 ohms. This is a simple and effective choice: plug in, play, and enjoy very predictable behavior both live and in the studio, without unnecessary adjustments.

Sound Character: Punch, Definition, and "British" Grain

With its four 12-inch Celestion G12H-30 speakers, the 1960AHW offers a personality that is both powerful and articulate. The lows remain tight and controlled, the mids stand out with that typically British punch, and the highs maintain a nice brightness, ideal for making a crunchy crunch or vintage overdrive sing.

In feel, you get a fast attack, excellent chord clarity, and projection that easily fills the space. Paired with a Marshall head, this cabinet highlights the grain, dynamics, and authority of riffs; with pedals (boost, fuzz, overdrive), it retains bite and good definition, helping keep the sound "open" even when pushing gain.
