Historical Context and Positioning Within the Range
At Meinl, the Pure Alloy Custom series represents a decidedly modern approach to drum cymbals: models designed to deliver a clear sound, good definition, and effective projection while maintaining an expressive playing feel. The 12-inch Trash China clearly belongs to the effect cymbal family: it complements a kit by adding an aggressive and textured color, shorter and sharper than a traditional china. It is typically the kind of cymbal that meets the current needs of stage and studio drummers seeking impactful accents without overwhelming the mix.
Who This Drum/Instrument Is For
This 12-inch trash china cymbal is aimed at intermediate to advanced drummers who want to enrich their sound palette with a highly responsive effect cymbal. It excels in styles where breaks and sharp accents are sought: modern rock, metal, hardcore, punk, fusion, but also pop and electro whenever short and incisive textures are desired. In studio settings, its compact size is an asset: it can add character without saturating the frequency space, and its quick response facilitates precise placements even at high tempos.
