Historical context and position within the range
The Meinl Classic Custom series has established itself as a benchmark for drummers looking for an effective cymbal with a modern sound and a crisp attack. The Classic Custom Dark version takes the concept towards a darker, more aggressive aesthetic, designed for contemporary music where effects are expected to "cut through" the mix without becoming overpowering. In this spirit, the 16-inch China positions itself as a versatile effect cymbal: fast enough for accents, yet prominent enough to support an energetic passage.
Who this drum kit/instrument is for
This China cymbal is aimed at beginner to intermediate drummers who want a genuine, powerful and easy-to-trigger effect sound, as well as more experienced musicians looking for a China with a highly convincing balance of effectiveness and control. It is particularly at home in rock, metal, punk, hardcore, fusion and all modern styles that make use of sharp accents, chokes and pronounced transitions.
