Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
The Meinl Byzance series has established itself as a reference for drummers seeking a cymbal with an organic character, handcrafted and capable of offering a wide palette of colors. Within this family, the Polyphonic variant stands out with a decidedly modern approach to the traditional ride: it aims for a broad harmonic spectrum, clear stick articulation, and musicality that remains controllable even when pushed loud. The 21" size and Medium weight place it at the heart of versatility, ideal for a single "main" ride setup.
Who This Drum / Ride Is For
This 21" ride is primarily intended for intermediate to advanced drummers who want to upgrade to a more expressive cymbal capable of translating playing nuances (ghost notes on the snare, right-hand dynamics, chorus accents) without becoming overpowering. Its "polyphonic" temperament is particularly suited to styles seeking texture and depth: modern rock, pop, indie, funk, contemporary jazz, fusion, as well as progressive music where the ride must remain clear in dense arrangements. It is also suitable for studio contexts whenever a ride with personality is desired without sacrificing precision.
