Meinl SYNTHETIC HEAD BENDIR 16 X 2 1/2

Historical context and position within the range

The bendir is one of the major frame drums used for centuries in the music of North Africa, the Middle East and, more broadly, many Mediterranean traditions. Its circular shape, direct grip and rich tonal character make it an instrument that is both ancient and thoroughly current.

This traditional 16-inch model captures that spirit while adapting it to modern needs. Featuring a True Feel synthetic head, it is aimed at percussionists seeking the character of a bendir without the more demanding maintenance associated with a natural head. It therefore offers a practical, reliable and musical solution for practice, performance or group workshops.

Who this bendir is for

This bendir is suitable for both beginners and more experienced musicians. Its 16-inch diameter makes it accessible for discovering basic striking techniques, accents, rolls and rebound control, while remaining expressive enough for an experienced percussionist.

It fits easily into a wide range of settings: Middle Eastern, folk, acoustic, Mediterranean and fusion music, vocal accompaniment, group practice and educational activities. It is also an excellent choice for musicians who want to add a frame drum to their setup without the bulk of a larger size.
