Summary of This Method

Designed as a particularly comprehensive study book for the bass student, this method gathers 19 grooves and accompaniments in a mosaic of "all styles" to develop regularity, rhythmic placement, and endurance. Each piece is designed to work on concrete musical situations: shuffles and swing for bounce, reggae and rock for stability, walking bass and bebop for the jazz approach, not to mention syncopated Latin lines, a jazz waltz, country western, and even a "newgrass" flavor.

To guide progression, interpretation notes accompany each piece: they explain how to effectively use position and fingering markings, when to change position, and how to count and execute syncopated rhythms precisely. The dual presentation of sheet music + tablature helps link reading and fretboard location, while reinforcing left-hand technique.

The method is not limited to "classic" lines: it also offers sections dedicated to modern playing techniques, notably slap/pop and hammer-on, useful for enriching vocabulary and varying articulations. Additionally, you will find a small " base line " manual, a chord arpeggio chart, as well as a particularly practical " one-glance " fretboard diagram that locates notation exactly at the corresponding fret positions.
