A large diaphragm condenser designed for studio and broadcast versatility

Designed to meet the demands of sound engineers in studio and broadcast environments, the UM 930 follows the tradition of versatile high-end microphones. Its dual capsule and precision polar pattern selection make it a reliable tool to cover a wide range of applications with a consistent sonic signature.

Who is it for and what are its uses?

Ideal for singers, voice-over actors, and demanding podcasters, it also excels in instrument recording: guitars, keyboards, percussion, winds, and strings. In both broadcast and music recording, its polar patterns allow adaptation to the room, control of bleed, and optimization of the direct-to-ambient ratio.

Key features and innovations

Multiple polar patterns, silent switching

Five polar patterns provide the flexibility needed to shape the sound at the source. Maintenance-free Reed relays ensure reliable switching, while a function mutes the signal during pattern changes to avoid any unwanted noise. The LED under the grille clearly indicates ready-to-use status.

Anti-resonance mechanical design

The robust construction limits body resonances and mechanical vibrations. The integrated elastic suspension adjusts +/-135 degrees for precise positioning, and interchangeable colored rings (green, red, blue) facilitate identification on set.

"UM 930 Twin" version for comparison and remixing

The UM 930 Twin variant combines two microphones: one with a fixed cardioid and the other offering five simultaneous polar patterns. Signals are available via a 5-pin XLR, with the option to use an adapter to two 3-pin XLRs. This architecture allows real-time comparison to a cardioid reference and adjustment of the polar pattern during mixing.
