Denner: a high-end recorder inspired by a historical model

The Mollenhauer Denner alto is part of a premium series developed based on the original instruments of Jacob Denner (1681-1735), an iconic figure in instrument making. This "redesigned" version emphasizes stability and balance: the new bore design aims for very reliable intonation and refined Baroque aesthetics, while offering great craftsmanship and finishing finesse.

For which musicians and styles?

This alto recorder is primarily intended for intermediate to advanced musicians and teachers seeking an expressive, reliable, and precise instrument, including in the upper register. It is particularly well suited to the Baroque repertoire (bright sound, clear articulation), but also fits very well for chamber music, recorder ensembles, and contemporary pieces requiring controlled intonation.

Sound and design

The Denner alto stands out with a bright Baroque timbre and balanced projection, with a stable response that remains comfortable even in the upper register. The homogeneity between low, middle, and high registers contributes to an evolving sound, capable of varied nuances and colors depending on breath and articulation. The fully scooped holes promote accuracy and precision, while the design has been conceived to remain ergonomic, including for large hands. The surface, treated with vegetable oils, highlights the olive wood and contributes to a pleasant tactile sensation.

Recommended compatible accessories

The recorder comes with a complete maintenance and transport kit: you may simply consider, depending on your use, a replacement swab and additional joint grease to maintain the same quality of assembly and response over time.
