A Historical Model After Hieronymus F. Kynseker

The Kynseker range by Mollenhauer is based on models attributed to Hieronymus F. Kynseker (Nuremberg, 1636-1686), preserved at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg. The goal is clear: to preserve what defines the character of these consort recorders, namely a faithful external shape and above all a full, powerful sound full of personality. The result: an alto recorder with a strong style, ideal for rediscovering the colors of early repertoires without sacrificing versatility.

For Which Musicians and Repertoires?

This alto recorder is particularly aimed at intermediate to advanced musicians seeking an instrument with an "early music" character to play in consort or chamber music settings. Its Renaissance / Early Baroque orientation makes it an excellent partner for historical repertoires (dances, diminutions, ensemble pieces), while remaining relevant for current recorder practices, especially when aiming for superior sound presence and projection.

Sound and Design

Constructed from dark-stained maple, the Mollenhauer Kynseker offers a dense and well-projected timbre, with a response designed to carry within an ensemble. The tuning and sound adjustment have been carefully refined, promoting a stable response and a clear sonic personality. The Baroque-style fingering retains familiar references for recorder players while fitting within the Renaissance and Early Baroque aesthetic.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

The recorder comes with a leather case and a microfiber swab for internal drying after playing, as well as joint grease (useful for assembly and sealing). The fingering chart and maintenance manual complete the package for immediate use and regular care.
