A Recorder Designed for Learning, Backed by Mollenhauer Expertise
The Mollenhauer Student was designed to meet the practical needs of students and teachers: to offer a stable, enjoyable, and motivating instrument from the very first notes. Its development is based on user feedback in educational settings (schools, kindergartens, music schools) to optimize ease of sound production, intonation, and ergonomics. Within the range, it is positioned as a serious study soprano recorder, ideal for establishing solid technical foundations while enjoying a musical sound.
For Whom and For What Uses?
This soprano recorder is primarily aimed at beginners (children, teenagers, adults) and is well suited for individual lessons or group classes. Thanks to its stable tuning and ease of handling, it is perfectly adapted for learning classical music, school repertoire, and ensembles (small groups, recorder orchestras). It is an excellent choice if you are looking for a recorder that "responds" immediately, without a shrill sound, and remains pleasant for daily use.
Sound and Design
The natural pearwood provides a soft, round, and balanced tonal color, particularly appreciated during the first years: the sound remains fine and never intrusive, while maintaining a beautiful presence. The recorder is homogeneous between low and high registers, with a sound production that supports the student (less effort to produce a clean note) and a stable intonation useful for playing in tune within ensembles. The Baroque fingering, combined with the double hole, facilitates fingering precision and contributes to better intonation on certain notes, a real advantage as one progresses.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
The recorder comes with a rainbow case and a complete maintenance kit; to go further without risk of incompatibility, you can simply plan for some joint grease (if you want a spare) and an additional swab dedicated to your instrument.

It's my first recorder but I already play Native American flute, Irish flute and Ocarina flute.
This flute has a really nice sound, really! The notes are fair, beautiful and it's far from being as strong as Ocarina I think. So for use in an apartment I think it is largely feasible.
During the break-in, the brand advises not to play more than 20 minutes per day, I try to stick to it but it's hard!
That said, I see that it is necessary because the treble sounds a bit after 15 minutes of playing, probably due to condensation. Guess it'll be fine after the run-in.
In short, for a fan of wind instruments like me, I am completely satisfied with this flute!
