GTRS: MOOER's Fusion of Traditional Guitar and Integrated Technology

Founded in 2010 in Shenzhen, MOOER has established itself with compact and innovative solutions for guitarists. In 2020, the brand upgraded its MNRS (MOOER Non-linear Response Sample) engine to version 2.0 and collaborated with designer Kenji Wong to create GTRS: electric guitars integrating a MOOER effects system directly into the instrument. The S800 serves as the premium entry point of this vision, while a P800 model with alder body and a different pickup set exists within the same family.

The GTRS S800 is aimed at beginner to advanced guitarists seeking a versatile guitar capable of covering a wide spectrum of styles: pop, funk, blues, rock, indie, worship, and even more modern genres thanks to the built-in effects. It is ideal for home practice, light rehearsal sessions, quickly recording ideas, and building presets controlled from both the instrument and the app.

The Sound

Its American basswood body favors balance: present mids, good definition, and a consistent response, perfect for exploiting a wide palette of effects. The roasted maple neck provides a stable feel and sharp attack, while the rosewood fingerboard slightly softens the upper spectrum for more "musical" highs.

The S-S-H configuration (3 GTRS Alnico V pickups) combined with the 5-position selector switch allows for bright, snappy clean tones (single coil positions) to thicker, more powerful textures via the humbucker. The volume and tone controls remain familiar, and the "Super Knob" combines main output management and preset control. The built-in GTRS processor (simulations, effects, drum machines, metronomes, and looper) transforms the S800 into a complete creative platform without sacrificing the feel of a real electric guitar.
