The GTRS S800 Series: MOOER DNA Between Guitar and Technology
After gaining recognition in 2010 with compact effect pedals, MOOER took a new step by developing the MNRS 2.0 engine in 2020, then collaborating with designer Kenji Wong to create the GTRS range. The goal: to maintain the aesthetics and feel of a traditional electric guitar while integrating a true ecosystem of effects and playing tools. The GTRS S801 is part of the S800 series, designed as the core range with a focus on versatility and mobile playing.
For Whom and Which Styles?
The GTRS S801 is aimed at beginner to intermediate guitarists who want an easy-to-handle instrument, as well as experienced musicians looking for an all-in-one solution to rehearse, compose, record ideas, or play through headphones/speakers without multiplying devices. Its S-S-H configuration suits pop, funk, blues, rock, indie very well and can extend to more aggressive styles thanks to the bridge-position humbucker and integrated processing.
The Sound
Its American basswood body provides an effective balance: present mids, consistent response, and good versatility, ideal for exploiting presets and effects without excessive harshness. The torrefied maple neck and maple fingerboard enhance attack and definition, with a very pleasant "snap" in clean tones and intermediate positions. The GTRS Alnico V pickups in S-S-H, combined with the 5-position selector, allow switching from bright cleans to dynamic crunches, then to thicker leads on the double coil pickup. The real highlight remains the integrated GTRS processor: simulations, effects, looper, and rhythms transform the guitar into a standalone playing station, notably controlled by the Super Knob to manage the main output and preset control.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
The guitar comes with a gig bag and a USB-C cable; the simplest and safest addition is a set of electric strings in 09-42 gauge (original gauge) to maintain the feel and balance of the 2-point vibrato. For other accessories (hard case, strap/strap locks), compatibility depends on exact dimensions and attachment buttons: it's best to choose after checking on the instrument.

Questions frequently asked
Can the Mooer GTRS Standard 801 White be used without effect pedals?
The built-in GTRS processor includes 9 amp simulations and 126 effects, accessible via the Super Knob for the main output and presets. An 80-second looper, 40 drum loops, and 10 metronomes are also integrated. The iOS/Android app controls the unit via Bluetooth 5.0.
What pickups does this guitar have?
The S-S-H configuration combines three GTRS Alnico V pickups and a 5-position selector switch. The two single coils deliver clear, defined tones, while the bridge humbucker adds thickness for crunch and lead sounds.
Is the GTRS S801 suitable for rock and funk?
This guitar adapts well to pop, funk, blues, rock, and indie styles thanks to its S-S-H setup. The American basswood body and maple fretboard contribute to balanced response with pronounced attack.
What is the battery life of the built-in battery?
The rechargeable battery offers up to 10 hours of autonomy.
What strings should be used on the GTRS S801?
A set of electric strings in 09-42 gauge matches the original string gauge. This gauge preserves the intended balance with the 2-point tremolo.
