The phaser is one of the most iconic modulation effects: it colors the sound by creating dips and peaks in the spectrum, then evolves them over time to give that unmistakable "rotating" sensation. Historically associated with vintage sounds (funk, 70's rock, psychedelic), it has since found its place in much broader contexts, from modern pop to ambient soundscapes. With LIQUID, you get this DNA, but in a digital approach that makes accessing multiple phaser characters within a single format easy, without multiplying pedals.

Who is it for, and in which styles?

LIQUID is aimed at guitarists (or bassists) who want to add life and depth to their sound without complicating their pedalboard. The 5 types allow you to switch from a "subtle" phaser (ideal for rhythm parts) to more pronounced movements for lead lines, intros, bridges, or solos.

In practice, it's an excellent choice for styles where modulation immediately provides a signature: funk (percussive chicken picking), blues-rock (singing solos), rock and indie (thick textures), as well as ambient when you're looking for slow, wide movement. In the studio, it helps "animate" a take that's a bit too straightforward; live, it helps the sound breathe and differentiate parts of a song.

Selectors, modes, and design: the essentials, no hassle

The heart of LIQUID is its dual modulation approach: on one side, a type selector (5 variations) that changes the phaser's personality; on the other, a waveform selector (3 options) that influences how the sweep evolves. Practically, this lets you go from a smooth, "round" oscillation to more defined, choppy, or expressive movements depending on your attack and range.

The true bypass is a real plus if you want to preserve the character of your guitar, pickups, and amp when the pedal is off. The metal housing enhances daily reliability, and the compact format makes integration on a pedalboard easy, even when space is tight.

The sound

A good phaser strikes a balance: enough movement to be musical without "eating" the attack or muddying chords. LIQUID offers a modulation with a modern grain, featuring several signatures thanks to its 5 types : you can aim for a subtle presence that thickens the sound, or conversely a more obvious, almost liquid modulation that immediately catches the ear. The 3 waveforms allow you to adjust the feel under your fingers: the softer the wave, the more fluid and organic the effect appears; the more pronounced it is, the more rhythmic and expressive the phaser becomes.

On a clean rhythm, the effect highlights harmonics and gives a sense of width. On a saturated channel, it adds a "vocal" quality and movement that can recall certain psychedelic colors, while remaining usable in a mix. And thanks to true bypass, you keep a clean direct signal as soon as you turn the effect off.
