The Modern John Petrucci Signature at Music Man
Born from the collaboration with John Petrucci, the JP series embodies precision luthiery designed for stage and studio. The JP15 stands as a premium reference in the range, combining lightweight woods, figured tops, and sophisticated electronics. The "Ultramarine Quilt" finish enhances the maple grain while asserting a decidedly modern character.
For Whom and Which Styles?
Designed for intermediate to expert guitarists, the JP15 excels in modern rock, progressive metal, fusion, and any studio application where articulation and dynamics are essential. Its fast neck, precise intonation, and expanded palette thanks to the piezo make it a unique "Swiss Army knife" for stage and recording.
Sound
The combination of okoumé and flamed maple top delivers present mids, defined highs, and sharp attack, while the torrefied maple neck promotes sustain and stability. The DiMarzio Illuminator pickups provide tight lows, articulated mids, and precise highs, driven by a 500 kOhm tone control (0.022 uF capacitor) and a 3-position selector with a custom middle position. The 20 dB push/push boost propels leads without losing clarity. The Fishman Powerbridge piezo offers credible "acoustic" textures, mixable or routable separately, and the Music Man JP floating vibrato ensures expressiveness and impeccable tuning stability.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To preserve the original "feel" and piezo accuracy, opt for a set of nickel strings 10-46 (Ernie Ball RPS 10 Slinkys), a comfortable strap, and two 6.35 mm jack cables to simultaneously exploit magnetic/piezo outputs in stereo. A sturdy stand with non-reactive contact will protect the finish.
