What is Punctuate for?
Punctuate is a transient shaping plugin designed to control the perception of attack (the "snap," the "crack," the "click") and sustain (body, resonance) of your sources. Whereas a classic transient shaper acts on the entire signal block, Punctuate splits the audio into 26 perceptual zones and modulates transients where they actually occur. The result: you can make drums more present, push a piano back in the mix, or bring life back to a bus without unbalancing the entire spectrum.
Main Features
Multiband control aligned with human perception
Punctuate relies on an auditory model (critical bands) to distribute the signal across 26 transient modulators. This approach helps avoid the "everything moves at once" effect of wideband processing and allows for surgical shaping of the attack according to spectral zones. You can thus emphasize the impact of a kick without overstimulating the sub-bass, or highlight the articulation of a snare without unnecessarily boosting its low mids.
Transient Emphasis, suppression, and adaptive behavior
The core of the plugin is based on the ability to enhance or reduce transients per band while maintaining a global and quick overview. The Adaptive Transient control allows you to choose between very independent operation (maximum precision) or a more coupled action (smoother and more natural rendering). Additionally, the management of transient length lets you finely adjust the action zone to target a very short "click" or, conversely, a longer and more musical attack.
Clear metering, parallel processing, and sound design
A scrolling meter visualizes transient modulation in each band, useful for instantly understanding what is being sculpted. The Mix control facilitates parallel processing (for example: preserving the naturalness of the recording while adding punch). Finally, you can solo and reconfigure the bands to go further in sound design, from subtle tightening to much more pronounced sculpting effects.

Questions frequently asked
Is Punctuate compatible with macOS and Windows?
Compatibility includes macOS 10.14 or later, on both Intel and Apple Silicon processors, as well as Windows 10 or later. On macOS, the supported formats are VST-2, VST-3, AU, and AAX.
How to adjust the attack of a snare drum or kick drum with this plugin?
The processing distributes the signal across 26 perceptual bands to emphasize or reduce transients according to the frequency range concerned. This makes it possible to target the click of a kick or the articulation of a snare without affecting the entire spectrum uniformly.
What is the purpose of the Adaptive Transient control?
This control adjusts the degree of independence between bands. An independent behavior favors precise action, while a more coupled setting smooths the processing for a more homogeneous result.
Can Punctuate be used in parallel processing?
The Mix parameter allows blending the processed signal with the original signal, preserving some of the source's natural character while adding impact.
Is the transient length adjustable?
The transient length can be adjusted to define the processing range. A short setting can target a brief click, while a longer duration affects a more extended attack.
