A "Pro" Collaboration Designed for Today's Bassists
Developed with Californian bassist Melvin Lee Davis (musician, producer, and musical director), this NUX preamp has a clear goal: to offer a Swiss Army knife capable of delivering an inspiring bass tone in all situations. The idea is not just to have a good sound "on paper," but a complete solution combining preamp, drive, DI, and cabinet simulation, with a decidedly mobile and contemporary approach.
Within the lineup, it positions itself as a pedalboard nerve center for bass: a unique tool that can replace several links (DI, preamp, cab emulation, noise gate) while remaining simple to control with your foot.
Who Is This Preamp For, and In What Contexts Does It Make a Difference?
The NUX Bass Preamp + DI is aimed at bassists who want a consistent and controlled sound without always relying on an amp on stage. It suits both intermediate musicians and advanced bassists: the ergonomics are straightforward, and the depth of adjustment (especially on the mids) allows sculpting a very precise tone.
In live settings, it becomes an ally to send a solid signal to the console via the XLR DI (with or without cabinet simulation), while retaining the option to feed a stage amp through the Through output. In studio or home studio, the USB and IRs facilitate recording a bass tone ready to mix, from clean funk to heavier rock, including modern and saturated textures.

Questions frequently asked
Does the XLR DI allow sending a signal to the console while keeping a bass amp?
The XLR DI output offers Pre/Post routing with switchable speaker cabinet simulation. The Through output simultaneously sends an unprocessed signal—bypassing the preamp, drive, and speaker simulation—to a bass amplifier.
What equalization settings are available on the Nux Basspreamp?
The 3-band EQ includes semi-parametric mids, with the frequency adjustable from 150 to 940 Hz. This range allows precise targeting of presence, body, or low mids.
Can the bass be recorded via USB with speaker cabinet simulation?
Through USB, the pedal can function as an audio interface with 32-bit/48 kHz conversion. Four speaker cabinet simulations are available, including 8x10 and 4x10 configurations. The editing software also allows loading custom impulse responses.
Does the drive preserve the bass frequencies of the instrument?
The Blend control mixes the clean signal with the saturated signal to maintain the impact of the low register.
How is the built-in noise gate adjusted?
A long press on the Drive footswitch accesses the noise gate Threshold and Decay parameters. These settings allow adjustment of the trigger level and closing time, especially useful at high gain levels.
