The NPK-20: a portable piano designed for playing and singing

The NUX NPK-20 combines the feel of a piano keyboard with arranger functions. It is aimed at pianists who want to work on their repertoire, accompany their voice or play with a band without having to use multiple devices. Its slim design, Black finish and color screen make it easy to integrate at home or into a stage setup.

Keyboard design

The 88-key WKJ-03 keyboard with weighted touch uses a graded hammer action and triple sensors to track playing nuances. The escapement and synthetic ivory and ebony surfaces enhance the feel under the fingers. The response to key depression, rebound and legato has been optimized, as has the balance between the white and black keys. A design that limits key noise and 5 levels of velocity sensitivity allow the keyboard to be adapted to the player's technique.

Sound quality

The NPK-20 is based on samples of a German grand piano to deliver an expressive tone. Its 271 sounds in 7 groups also allow you to vary the colors and layer a piano with an orchestral texture. Maximum polyphony of 108 voices supports chords and layers, while sympathetic resonance enriches the piano sound. The integrated stereo amplification allows you to play without an external system, and the two headphone outputs provide a solution for silent practice sessions.

Educational functions

The adjustable metronome from 20 to 280 bpm, 100 demo songs and 5-song recorder support daily practice. Listening back to a performance helps identify passages that need further work. Bluetooth MIDI enables connection to educational apps, while the free Piano Mate app provides sheet music. Split and Layer modes encourage work on different registers and tone combinations.

Advanced functions

The automatic accompaniment recognizes chords played with one or several fingers and offers A/B variations, intros and endings. Without chord recognition, the styles serve as a drum machine. Layer A and Layer B modes layer two sounds; Split divides the keyboard into two zones with independent sounds and octaves. Seven user memories allow you to quickly recall your configurations.

The input for a dynamic microphone features adjustable gain and reverb for accompanying vocals. Bluetooth audio streams songs from a mobile device, while USB MIDI enables MIDI exchange with a computer. The stereo line outputs, auxiliary input and pedal connections complete this setup.
