Historical Context and Positioning Within the Range

The Masters series was born from an ambitious project: an initial assembly of twelve rides, designed as exquisite cymbals laboriously handcrafted in CuSn20 bronze to achieve high sonic ideals suited to various musical genres. This artisanal approach, focused on the pursuit of a unique timbre and superior musicality, was later expanded in 2014 with the addition of three crashes and two hi-hats. The Masters philosophy is based on decades of experience in the art of cymbal making, while incorporating inspiration and demands from top international drummers.

Target Audience for This Drum/Instrument

This Masters cymbal is primarily aimed at intermediate to expert drummers seeking a pronounced, dark, and dry character with a short and controlled response. It is particularly suitable for contexts where definition and harmonic control are essential: modern jazz, fusion, sophisticated pop, acoustic music, funk, live hip-hop, as well as many studio situations. Its "short and dry" profile will also appeal to musicians who want to leave space in the mix, without harsh highs or overwhelming sustain.

Features and Innovations

Made from CuSn20 bronze, this cymbal emphasizes a subtle balance between complexity and control. Its sonic signature is distinguished by a warm fundamental tone but very dark, combined with a dry and direct playing feel. The stick sound is deliberately short and precise, facilitating articulated patterns, ghost notes on cymbals, and fine dynamics. The handcrafted production in Switzerland highlights a high-end positioning focused on consistency, musicality, and attention to detail.

Sound Characteristics

The choice of CuSn20 bronze (an alloy renowned for its harmonic richness) contributes here to a particularly dark and dry personality. The warmth of the timbre remains present but is expressed with a delicate spectrum and a short behavior, which limits wash and makes the cymbal very clear within an ensemble. The harmonic texture is elegant, without aggressiveness, with an overall rendering that favors nuance over exuberance.

The response to the stick is characterized as "dry stick": the attack is clean, the rebound feels precise, and the note decays quickly. This makes it an excellent option for drummers who want a controllable cymbal that does not bleed into microphones or melodic instruments. In a live context, this short character helps maintain a clean mix; in recording, it reduces the need for filtering and allows capturing detailed playing with a natural presence.
