Historical Context and Positioning in the Range

The Masters series was born as a collection of twelve rides, designed to achieve high sonic ideals across a wide variety of styles. This approach is based on decades of experience in the art of cymbal making, combined with inspiration from renowned international drummers. In 2014, the Masters family expanded with the addition of crashes and hi-hats to extend this unique sound atmosphere to other types of cymbals, while maintaining the same handcrafting standards.

Target Audience for This Drum/Instrument

This Masters cymbal is aimed at the intermediate to expert drummer seeking a high-end, nuanced, and controlled tone that is easy to place in a mix without harshness. Its warm and dark character, highlighted by a sharp but controlled stick definition, is particularly suited for modern jazz, funk, pop, RnB, indie, instrumental music, and all aesthetics where presence is desired without excessive volume. The indication "ideal for small stages" also makes it an excellent option for clubs, TV sets, intimate venues, and amplified contexts where the cymbal must remain clear at low levels.

Features and Innovations

Designed around a CuSn20 alloy (traditional bronze), this cymbal emphasizes a quick response and a very controllable feel under the stick. Ride playing benefits from a precise stick sound with restrained brightness, while the crash function remains available thanks to a progressive and musical openness. The mentioned "oriental" tint translates into a hint of complexity in the harmonics, useful for adding depth to accents without tipping into an overwhelming sound. The result: a versatile, expressive cymbal that retains its elegance when played softly and opens up tastefully when accented.

Sound Characteristics

The CuSn20 alloy, often associated with "traditional bronze," is prized for its depth and complexity: it delivers a rich spectrum with present low mids, controlled brightness, and an overall more "organic" feel. Here, the advertised warm, dark, and balanced sound results in a cymbal that fills the space without becoming shrill, ideal for both mic'd and acoustic playing.

The soft and quick response provides real comfort: the cymbal reacts immediately to dynamics, with a smooth attack and controlled decay. In ride playing, the stick definition remains sharp and controlled, helping to keep the tempo clear within a band, even at moderate volume. As a crash, the crashable character favors round and musical accents, particularly effective on small stages where projection is sought without harshness.
