Summary of This Method
This method was designed to help you learn and especially understand the natural minor scale on the guitar, so you can use it confidently in your solos, melodies, and improvisations. The goal is not just to memorize positions, but to grasp the musical logic that allows you to exploit the melodic potential of the natural minor in various contexts.
After a concise but essential theoretical introduction, you work on 12 minor scales that every guitarist benefits from mastering. The progression is thoughtfully structured to help you organize your learning and connect the notes, fretboard, and harmony without getting scattered.
For each scale, the double-page layout facilitates assimilation. On the left page, you find the scale name and the note positions on the 22-fret neck, allowing you to precisely visualize your landmarks and secure your playing. Importantly, the method also indicates the chords over which the scale can be played "safely" : a key asset to avoid hesitation and immediately know the harmonic framework in which your scale will sound right.
On the right page, a long improvisation illustrates the use of the studied scale, with real work on musicality and phrasing. Two recordings are provided for download : one to listen to the demonstration, and a second as a playback track to get into action. You can thus replay the example, then create your own ideas (licks, themes, variations, solos) while staying within the color of the studied minor scale.
All recordings (examples and playbacks) are available for free download following the instructions in the book, for smooth and motivating practice, at home or during rehearsals.
