Summary of This Book

This book in a compact format (21 x 12 cm) has been designed as a progressive and directly useful guide to learn and master arpeggios on the 5- and/or 6-string bass. The goal is twofold: to provide you with concrete shapes and landmarks to play on the instrument, while laying the necessary theoretical foundations to understand the construction of arpeggios and their logic on the fretboard.

The learning of arpeggios is presented here as a comprehensive lever for progress. On one hand, it is an excellent way to map the fretboard of 5- and 6-string basses: you identify notes faster, better visualize intervals, and gain ease in shifting positions. On the other hand, arpeggio practice constitutes an effective technical routine for both the right hand (consistency, attack, alternation) and the left hand (independence, cleanliness, transitions, and positions).

Thanks to this work, you do not merely "recite" shapes: you build a musical vocabulary. Once arpeggios are internalized, they become an immediate source of melodic ideas across the entire register, useful for enriching your bass lines, solidifying your grooves, and approaching solo playing with greater harmonic coherence. The book is thus suitable both for learning and review purposes, allowing you to revisit it as often as necessary throughout your progress.
