PRS Custom 24-08 Black Gold Wraparound Burst

A PRS Icon Reimagined for 2025

Born in 1985, the Custom 24 is the founding model that defined the PRS DNA: premium finishes, carefully refined ergonomics, and formidable tonal balance. This Custom 24-08 retains the fundamentals behind its reputation (24 frets, carved maple top, mahogany, PRS tremolo) while adding a more contemporary approach with TCI pickups and switching designed to multiply the tonal palette without complicating your playing. On this 2025 version, the EQ mini-switches provide instant control over brightness and definition.

Who is it for, and what styles does it suit?

The PRS Custom 24-08 is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists looking for an electric guitar capable of covering a broad range of styles: modern rock, pop, funk, fusion, prog, hard-hitting blues, and any stage or studio situation where you need to move quickly from a full sound to a more incisive register. The Thin profile favors fast passages, clean bends, and easy access to the upper frets, while the 24 frets will appeal to both lead players and demanding rhythm guitarists.

The Tone

The combination of a mahogany body and maple top is a PRS classic: mahogany provides body, sustain, and rich warmth in the mids, while maple adds attack, precision, and a more sculpted high end. The TCI pickups are designed to balance power and articulation, preserving definition for both chords and lead playing. The 3-way selector provides clear, effective foundation tones, while the 2 EQ mini-switches (high-pass filters when engaged) trim the low end for greater tightness, clarity, and more "musical" highs, depending on your amp and mix. Finally, the PRS Gen III tremolo contributes to stability and comfort while retaining a smooth feel for subtle nuances and more pronounced effects.

Recommended Compatible Accessories
