A Modernized PRS Legend for 2025
Born as the brand's flagship model, the Custom 24 is the instrument that launched PRS history in 1985. The Custom 24-08 carries the DNA of the original (24 frets, maple top, mahogany, PRS vibrato), while pushing versatility further thanks to electronics designed to multiply tonal colors without complicating use. On this 2025 model, the mini EQ switches provide an immediate and musical approach to sculpt attack and clarity, while keeping the classic "PRS" feel under the fingers.
Who Is It For, and In Which Styles?
The PRS Custom 24-08 is aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists seeking a premium instrument capable of covering many genres with a single body. It excels in rock, pop, funk, blues, fusion, and modern metal, thanks to dynamic response and great clarity in both chords and lead playing. The Thin profile and 24 frets also make it a natural ally for fast playing and high-position solos.
The Sound
The combination of a maple top and mahogany body/neck delivers a typical PRS balance: full lows, singing mids, and a sharper attack thanks to the maple. The two TCI pickups are designed to offer definition and excellent touch sensitivity, with a tone that remains clear even when saturated. The two mini EQ switches act as high-pass filters when engaged (up position): the low end tightens, the sound gains clarity and more musical highs, useful for cutting through a mix, cleaning up a saturated tone, or tightening a clean sound. The PRS Gen III vibrato contributes to stability and response, with a smooth feel and good tuning retention.
