Essential Information About the PRS Mark Holcomb "WA Burst" Guitar

  • Mark Holcomb (Periphery) signature model integrated into the PRS Core series, featuring high-end luthiery and USA manufacturing.

  • Long scale 25.5" / 648 mm, 24 frets, and ebony fingerboard with a 20" / 508 mm radius: precision, attack, and comfort for modern playing.

  • Mahogany body topped with a figured "mango" top, enhanced by the "Wraparound Burst (WA Burst)" finish and satin black hardware.

  • Seymour Duncan Mark Holcomb Scourge (bridge) and Scarlet (neck) humbuckers + 5-position selector: a modern, articulate, and versatile tonal palette.

A Long-Standing Mark Holcomb Signature in the Core Range

Originating from a first edition and then redesigned, the PRS Mark Holcomb "WA Burst" marks the return of a signature crafted for the demands of stage and studio. Joining the Core series, it retains a decidedly modern identity: spectacular aesthetics with a figured "mango" top, satin black hardware, and electronics developed around Mark Holcomb's precise and percussive playing style. The result: a USA-made PRS designed as a current benchmark for guitarists seeking definition, stability, and responsiveness.

Who Is It For and What Styles?

This electric guitar is primarily aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists who play with dense distortion, dropped tunings, and tight rhythms. It excels in progressive metal, djent, and modern metal, while remaining comfortable when switching from an articulate clean tone to a heavy wall of gain thanks to the 5-position selector. Factory-tuned to "Drop C," it arrives ready for tight riffs and precise leads, with a neck designed for speed and intonation.

Sound Characteristics

The Seymour Duncan Mark Holcomb Scourge (bridge) / Scarlet (neck) duo aims for very clear articulation: firm lows, incisive mids, and well-defined highs, maintaining separation even on extended chords. The mahogany body adds depth and sustain, while the 25.5" / 648 mm scale length increases string tension and note stability in low tunings. The ebony fingerboard (20" / 508 mm radius) promotes fast attack and immediate response. Finally, the PRS Plate-Style fixed bridge (string-through) maximizes tuning stability and attack efficiency, and the 5-position selector provides access to full humbucker voices as well as single-coil-style combinations for varied textures.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To best exploit the "Drop C" tuning, a set of 6-string electric guitar strings with reinforced gauge is recommended (setup may be necessary depending on your gauge). A standard guitar strap, guitar stand, and clip-on chromatic tuner are also suitable (universal compatibility). The included PRS hard case ensures transport and protection.
