A refined McCarty 594 in the S2 series (2024 model)
This 2024 model enriches the PRS S2 series with a McCarty 594 Thinline Standard version, designed to recapture the spirit of vintage-inspired guitars while maintaining modern and coherent manufacturing. The Thinline design emphasizes comfort and ergonomics, while the PRS aesthetic remains instantly recognizable thanks to the "bird" inlays and the Antique White finish.
For which guitarists and styles?
The PRS S2 McCarty 594 Thinline Standard is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a versatile electric guitar that is responsive to touch and capable of covering many genres. It feels particularly at home in blues, classic rock, pop, and modern jazz, equally suited to fingerstyle and pick playing, with excellent volume control to nuance gain.
Sound
The mahogany body and mahogany neck duo provides a warm sonic foundation focused on mids, with natural sustain and a rounded attack, ideal for expressive and singing tones. The rosewood fingerboard adds a softer feel under the fingers and contributes to a less aggressive high end while maintaining definition.
The PRS 58/15 LT pickups (Made in USA) aim for a vintage humbucker-inspired character: firm lows, rich mids, and clear highs without harshness. The wiring with 2 volumes and 2 tones facilitates individual pickup balancing, while the push-pull pots expand the tonal palette to quickly switch from thick sounds to airier textures, depending on your settings and amplification. The 3-position selector switch remains effective and immediate for switching from neck to bridge or combining both.
