The Vela S2, the iconic PRS offset revisited in HHT
Within the S2 series, the PRS Vela has established itself as the brand's modern offset, blending retro lines with contemporary ergonomics. This HHT version (two humbuckers + tremolo) takes the concept further: it retains the Vela identity while adding a broader sonic spectrum and increased expressiveness thanks to the PRS vibrato.
For which musician and styles?
Designed for intermediate to expert guitarists, the S2 Vela HHT excels in indie, pop, funk, rock and can venture into moderate hard rock. The PRS 25" scale length balances tension and comfort, ideal for dynamic rhythms as well as singing solos. Its solid tuning stability makes it a reliable ally for stage, touring, and recording.
Sound
The mahogany body and glued mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard provide warmth, present mids, and natural sustain. The DS-01 humbuckers with "exposed magnets" deliver a bright attack and precise definition. In split mode via the push/pull, you get a nearly single-coil snap for bright arpeggios and funky cleans. The 3-position selector covers ranges from crystalline cleans to edgy crunches and thick saturations. The PRS tremolo adds vibrato nuances while reliably returning to zero point.
Recommended compatible accessories
Maintain the original feel with a 10-46 nickel string set (factory mounted), or switch to 9-42 for easier bends. Add a comfortable strap, a curved capo suited for electric guitars with 9-10" radius, a quality 6.35 mm jack cable, and a clip-on tuner. For maintenance, prefer a microfiber cloth and rosewood-appropriate oil for the fingerboard.
