A 2025 S2 Vela that asserts the PRS personality
The S2 Vela is rooted in PRS DNA: a guitar inspired by classics but designed for today's musician. This 2025 version stands out with the introduction of PRS Phase III locking tuners with Wing buttons and this new Satin Pearl White finish, elegant and decidedly stage-ready. Made in the USA, it maintains the S2 approach: luthiery and electronics choices focused on performance, with a distinctive sonic identity.
Who is it for, and what styles?
The PRS S2 Vela Semi-Hollow Satin targets intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking an electric guitar with a strong character, capable of shifting from punchy rhythm playing to expressive leads. Its balance makes it very comfortable in rock, indie, punk, pop, and alternative styles, while remaining relevant for more open and dynamic tones thanks to the semi-hollow body and split option.
Sound
The mahogany semi-hollow body adds extra resonance, a more "alive" attack, and a woody character that enriches the tone, especially noticeable on chords and arpeggios. The asymmetrical carved top contributes to comfort and a responsive feel under the fingers, while the satin finish promotes smooth playing without sticky sensation.
On the electronics side, the PRS DS-01 in the treble position delivers a clear brightness and presence ideal for incisive riffs and leads that cut through the mix. In the bass position, the PRS Narrowfield combines bite, definition, and dynamics with remarkable note sustain. The Push/Pull tone control splits the treble pickup to access finer, snappier textures, and the 3-position selector offers quick and effective combinations for both live and studio use.
Recommended compatible accessories
This guitar is strung with 10-46 gauge strings: if you want to keep the same feel and balance, sticking with this gauge is a safe choice. It comes with a Gig Bag for transport.
