A New 2025 Variant with Its Own Character in the PRS Bolt-On Range

With the Swamp Ash Special Maple, PRS offers a "new face" in its Bolt-On family: a swamp ash solidbody paired with a carved violin-style top, and electronics geared towards versatility. The addition of two mini split-switches on this model further expands the tonal spectrum while maintaining the PRS approach: playable, balanced, and immediately musical sounds, regardless of the selected setting.

Who Is It For, and What Styles?

This electric guitar is aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists looking for a single instrument capable of performing in rehearsals, studios, and on stage. Its "twang" DNA and dynamic response make it very comfortable in hot country, blues, and jazz, but its 58/15 LT humbuckers also allow exploration of more modern territories with sustain and density. If you like switching from bright cleans to crunchy tones, then to thicker leads, the control logic remains simple and very effective.

The Sound

The swamp ash body provides solid lows and a lively high end, with a snappy and "open" character that highlights pick attacks. The PRS 58/15 LT humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions deliver a rich, articulate tone with bright yet smooth highs, perfect for singing leads as well as punchy rhythms. In the middle position, the PRS Narrowfield offers a single-coil-like character with very clear definition and less background noise than a traditional single coil. The 5-position selector combined with the two mini split-switches allows exploration of up to 12 tones, maintaining a consistent perceived volume across modes. The patented PRS vibrato system (Gen III) and locking tuners promote expressive playing while ensuring good tuning stability.
