What PSP Lexicon PSP42 Is For

PSP Lexicon PSP42 is a stereo delay and phrase sampling plug-in designed to enrich your productions with dense repetitions, expressive modulation, and a controllable "hardware" color. It suits both modern mixing (clean, precise tempo-locked delay) and more sonic approaches seeking tape-style saturation, thickening repeats, and movement effects close to flanger/chorus. On vocals, guitars, synths, keyboards, drums, or effects buses, it creates space, depth, and an immediately identifiable sonic signature.

Main Features

An Emulation Inspired by the Lexicon PCM42, with Character Control

This version improves the original's sonic accuracy and flexibility by letting you choose the level of hardware "imprint." The Clean mode offers a signal path without emulations for transparent delay. The Lims mode activates the emulation of two opto-limiters (input and before A/D conversion) for tighter dynamics and more musical repeats. The Full mode adds emulation of A/D and D/A converters to recover more pronounced non-linearity and sonic twist. The Legacy mode preserves the spirit of the previous version for those who prefer its original sound.

From Musical Delay to Sound Design, Without Artifacts

PSP Lexicon PSP42 excels in both tempo-synced feedback delays and modulated effects. Its modulation section uses a PCM-style approach (modifying delay time via sample rate) to achieve movements ranging from subtle animation to more radical results. DSP algorithms and parameter filtering with real-time crossfades ensure smooth transitions without clicks, even when pushing the settings.

Modern Extensions: More Time, More Control

Beyond vintage inspiration, the plug-in offers current functions tailored for workflow: adjustable Hi Cut to soften repeats, tempo-synced LFO with phase settings, configurable input sensitivity to simulate -10 dBV or +4 dBu levels, and several direction modes (forward/backward) to shape original repetition patterns. A Bypass mode can even leave the input limiter in the signal path to add subtle, realistic coloration to the dry sound.
