What PSP Neon HR Is For

PSP Neon HR is an equalization plugin intended for tasks where the slightest coloration matters: mastering, stem mastering, post-production, light restoration, and tonal corrections on buses. Thanks to linear-phase processing, it allows for very precise adjustments (resonance cleaning, spectral balancing, control of extreme lows and highs) while limiting unwanted effects related to phase shifts, which are particularly audible on complex sources and full mixes.

Its design aims for a "clean" and controlled result: you can intervene surgically without unnecessarily altering character, depth, or stereo stability. It is a relevant choice if you are looking for a mastering equalizer capable of remaining neutral while offering a clear reading of what you are doing through a display and analysis tools focused on efficiency.

Main Features

Linear-phase equalization: precision and coherence

PSP Neon HR relies on linear algorithms based on fast convolution in the frequency domain to achieve very precise phase while remaining CPU efficient. The 8 equalization bands, configurable with different filter types, allow for both subtle tweaks and more targeted corrections, with fine frequency control and a particularly transparent response.

For contexts where latency and resources are critical, PSP Neon also offers a minimum-phase mode (IIR): a useful alternative to preserve Neon's signature and ergonomics while reducing the constraints of linear phase. This facilitates adapting the same tool to different production stages, from demanding corrective processing to lighter uses.

Resolution and fidelity: HR version dedicated to the most demanding uses

The PSP Neon HR variant emphasizes processing quality, supporting linear processing and three levels of spectral resolution. This approach is particularly interesting when you want to preserve micro-details, low-end stability, and stereo image perception as much as possible during mastering corrections.

In practice, this helps work confidently on fine corrections, especially on dense mixes, arrangements rich in transients, or productions where bass precision and overall tonal balance must remain impeccable.

Mastering workflow: analysis, focused listening, and fast navigation

The PSP Neon interface is designed to speed up decision-making. The plugin integrates a real-time third-octave spectrum analyzer with adjustable parameters, and a response display with auto-zoom to keep the useful area readable. To accelerate corrections, you have frequency-hunting and overtone-hunting assistance tools to identify problematic zones in seconds rather than by ear alone.

The band solo helps isolate the precise impact of a filter, which is particularly valuable for eliminating resonance, controlling harshness in the upper midrange, or adjusting presence without over-processing the entire mix. Finally, processing can be done in stereo or Mid-Side mode, with independent control of each stereo channel for very targeted corrections (for example, cleaning the Side without touching the center, or precisely balancing left/right).

Processing and production compatibility

PSP Neon HR operates at high sample rates (up to 192 kHz) and includes PSP Audioware's proprietary FAT mode. Regarding integration, the plugin is available in common formats for compatible digital audio workstations, facilitating its adoption in a studio workflow, whether on Mac or Windows, in mixing, mastering, or post-production environments.
