What PSP StompDelay Is For
PSP StompDelay is a delay plug-in designed for producers and sound engineers who want to quickly switch from a "clean" musical echo to much more experimental textures. It naturally integrates into a DAW session to enrich vocals, add depth to a guitar, widen a synth, or even transform a drum bus into a living rhythmic material.
Its strength lies in covering a very wide spectrum: subtle doubling, flanging and micro-modulations to thicken a source, synchronized delays to structure a chorus, ping-pong to create stereo width, and loops to build repetitive patterns. In the studio or live, it becomes a tool for sonic staging, capable of staying elegant... or shifting into controlled chaos.
Main Features
From Classic Delay to "Instrument" Delay
StompDelay is not limited to repeating a signal: it allows treating the repetition as a material in its own right. You can achieve conventional and very clear delays to support a melody, but also more characterful effects like ping-pong, perfect for animating stereo placement without overloading the center of the mix. Textures can range from soft, wide echoes to more edgy repetitions, ideal for modern rhythmic patterns.
Infinity Mode: A Creative Looper for Loops and Textures
When used in "Infinite operation mode" (Infinity mode), the plug-in behaves like a looper, useful for freezing a phrase, creating drones, layering, and generating transitions. This is an effective approach for sound design (ambiences, risers, beds) as well as composition (inspiring loops from a vocal or guitar take).
Continuous Tap Tempo: Quick Synchronization, Musical Feel
The continuous tap tempo facilitates setting the delay to the actual tempo of a track, even when the intention is more "human" than strictly metronomic. The result: you find the groove bounce, then adjust the amount so the effect serves the arrangement rather than muddying it.
Tape Character: Realistic Simulation and Reactions
For vintage color enthusiasts, the tape simulation provides a more organic response, close to the feel of a tape delay. StompDelay notably simulates the volume drop that occurs during fast-forward or tape cueing, a detail that enhances realism and delivers more credible transitions when pushing the effect to its limits.
From Subtlety to Sonic Chaos
The plug-in also covers more extreme territories: "scratchy" pitch effects, repetitions that transform into patterns, and texture variations that range from simple doubling to flanging-type effects, up to more radical treatments. It's an excellent choice if you're looking for a delay that can stay clean in a pop mix while offering experimental possibilities for electro, modern rock, film music, or more avant-garde productions.

Questions frequently asked
Is PSP Audioware StompDelay compatible with macOS and Windows?
The compatibility covers macOS 10.12 to macOS 12.01 Monterey, as well as Windows 7 to Windows 11. The software is available as a download.
Does the Infinity mode allow for looping?
The Infinite operation mode turns the delay into a looper to freeze a phrase. Drones and layered textures can thus be created from a voice or a guitar. This feature also allows for building sound transitions.
Is tap tempo available on this delay?
The continuous tap tempo allows quick adjustment of the repeats to the track's perceived tempo.
Can a tape delay sound be obtained with this plug-in?
The tape simulation provides a more organic tape delay response. It notably reproduces a volume drop during fast forward or tape cueing.
Is ping-pong offered to widen a stereo mix?
The ping-pong settings allow animating stereo placement without overcrowding the center of the mix. Subtle doublings, micro-modulations, and flanging effects are also accessible.
