A multicore designed to leverage network cabling in professional audio
In many installations, Cat 5/6 network cable is already everywhere: in cable trays, cable ducts, inside walls, or in patch bays. This multicore fits this modern approach by offering a simple solution to carry multiple audio lines over an existing infrastructure, while maintaining professional connectors (XLR) on the audio side and etherCon ports on the link side. The result: time savings during deployment, cleaner cabling, and an approach particularly suited to environments where maintenance and standardization are as important as sound quality.
Intended uses and target users for this multicore
This model is aimed at integrators, sound engineers, technicians, and studios looking for an efficient solution to connect remote equipment without running a bulkier traditional multicore. It is well suited for fixed installations (theaters, places of worship, auditoriums, educational institutions, studios) as well as setups where cabling between a stage, control room, and technical rack needs to be streamlined. Thanks to its 4 channels and support for AES signals, it can also be integrated into a digital chain while remaining easy to implement in the field.

Questions frequently asked
Can the Radial CATAPULT-TX4 transmit AES audio over Cat 5/6 cable?
The Cat 5/6 link carries 4 AES signals, which equals 8 audio channels. Two etherCon outputs provide connection to the network cable.
How many XLR connections are available?
Four XLR inputs and four XLR outputs are integrated for audio connections. The connectivity also includes 2 etherCon ports.
Can this multipair be used without power supply?
Its passive operation requires no power. No preamp or digital converter is integrated.
Does the CATAPULT-TX4 help eliminate ground loops?
A ground lift switch addresses ground loop issues. This function can reduce hum in an installation with multiple devices powered on different circuits.
What input level and frequency response does this model offer?
The maximum input level reaches 35 dBu, with a frequency response from 7 Hz to 20 kHz and a THD of 0.0005 % at 1 kHz.
