Instrument-Rack is a Rack Extension dedicated to electric piano sounds for music production in Reason. It lets you access the essential tones of vintage keyboards, from sharp and dynamic attacks to rounder, softer pads, with a play response designed for the studio. Whether you're producing soul, funk, rock, pop, hip-hop, neo-soul, or electro, this virtual instrument covers both accompaniment parts (chords, comping) and melodic lines and solos.

3 Legendary Electric Pianos, One Modern Instrument

At the heart of Instrument-Rack, you have three iconic models: the Rhodes Mk1 for its rich harmonics and warmth, the Wurlitzer 200A for its biting presence and grain, and the Pianet-T for its drier character, perfect in a mix. The hybrid approach of sampling + physical modeling provides a balance between timbral fidelity and lively behavior, useful when playing with dynamics and nuances.

Signal Paths and Spatialization

To switch from a direct sound to a more "amplified" or immersive rendering, Instrument-Rack offers a blend of signal paths including line, amplifier, and room. This architecture facilitates placing the instrument in the mix: clean and precise for modern productions, or more organic for a vintage aesthetic.

Expression, Touch, and Mechanical Details

The playing feel is central to the design: you adjust the velocity curve to tailor the response to your master keyboard, and you can manage the sympathetic resonance to add cohesion and depth. To enhance realism, the mechanical noise level of the keyboard and pedals is adjustable, from ultra-clean to a "real instrument" character.

Character and Integrated Effects Section

The Character control provides quick sound shaping, ideal for moving from a soft electric piano to a more aggressive signature without complex adjustments. On the processing side, the integrated effects section includes tremolo, compressor, overdrive, equalizer, phaser, chorus, and ambient, allowing you to instantly achieve typical textures (vintage vibrato/tremolo, amp crunch, wide modulation, space, and depth) directly within the Rack.

CV and Reason Integration: Designed for the Rack

In the Reason environment, the CV inputs open the door to automation and sound design: control of pitch, gate, and sequencer modulation. The audio outputs facilitate integration into the Reason Rack to route the signal to your usual effects, buses, and processing, or to build complex and performative chains.
