Ricordi Einaudi - Duetti Per Violino E Viola

About this score

With these five Duetti for violin and viola, Ludovico Einaudi presents a refined chamber music score that is both sensitive and contemporary. Dedicated to his mentor Luciano Berio, this work reflects the richness of the Italian composer's writing and his ability to bring together freedom, clarity of musical discourse and a diversity of languages.

This score sets up a genuine exchange between the two instruments. The violin and viola respond to, support, extend or contrast with one another through writing that gives equal importance to melodic lines and sonic texture. The collection provides a particularly rewarding setting in which to develop attentive listening, ensemble precision and dynamic control.

The five duets explore several atmospheres, within an intimate and lively chamber music spirit. They reflect the distinctive world of Ludovico Einaudi, whose work is appreciated for its emotional sensitivity, understated writing and highly personal approach to the contemporary repertoire. This edition is equally suited to musicians looking to enrich their programme and to teachers and students wishing to explore a contemporary work for string duo.

With its focused instrumentation and expressive power, this score is an excellent choice for duo practice, auditions, student concerts or stage repertoire. It will naturally appeal to violinists and violists seeking an elegant, inspired and musically engaging contemporary work.
